AMI, Demand Response, & Smart Grid Learning Session Now at MEA's Electric Operations Conference
Eagan, MN (PRWEB) December 11, 2008 -- Midwest ENERGY Association announces an AMI, demand response, and smart grid learning session to be held on May 6, 2009 before MEA's 10th Annual Electric Operations Conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Springfield, IL. This session is being offered in partnership with Utilimetrics: Alliance for Advanced Metering & Data Management Solutions.
One of the many benefits of modern two-way advanced metering systems, energy demand management systems, and automation technologies lies in the realm of distribution system optimization, system control and operation management decision support, outage notification and outage management. The integration of AMI data, system automation, and demand management applications into distribution and outage management systems (DMS/OMS) and business processes offers utilities benefits from increased reliability and customer service to greater energy efficiencies. The course will focus on these specific benefits and leveraging the power of the AMI, Meter Data Management, modern DMS/OMS systems, DR and Smart Grid applications to take the performance of both utility operations and T&D system assets to the next plateau of excellence.
John Gann, vice president, electric operations for Midwest ENERGY Association says, "We are pleased to be working with Utilimetrics to offer high-end education for our respective members. Now, more than ever, a highly capable workforce will drive the success of the electric industry." MEA's Annual Electric Operations Conference, brings together utility and contractor officers, directors, managers, crew leaders, and field personnel. Overhead, underground, safety/training, substation, codes/standards, metering, and distribution reliability groups each plan a series of classroom tracks which feature industry-expert presentations and sharing of successful practices. Many suppliers also attend and exhibit their products and services to the people who buy and use them.
The 10th Annual Electric Operations Conference (EOC) will be held May 6-8, 2009 at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Springfield. The half-day session "Improve Electric Operations with AMI, Demand Response, and Smart Grid" is on May 6. To register go to www.midwestenergy.org. Teams from Missouri Gas Energy and Atlanta Gas Light Named Champions of the National Gas Rodeo
Eagan, MN (PRWEB) October 3, 2008 -- The National Gas Rodeo congratulates team Intense from Missouri Gas Energy for their 2-person championship win on September20, 2008. Trouble Shooters from Atlanta Gas Light are the 4-person team champions. Natural gas crews from the across the nation came to compete and showcase their skills, knowledge, and professionalism at this 14th annual event.
Natural gas crews, the people who place the pipe, install the meters, and bring natural gas to homes and businesses often do not receive the recognition they deserve. "This is our opportunity as a company to show our pride in their work and our support for their efforts," said Al Jablonowski of We Energies and chair of the National Gas Rodeo committee.
"It's their time to celebrate what they do and how well they do it. Teams take this very seriously, designing their own tools and equipment. Months can be spent in the garage adding touches to specially designed shovels for the hand dig," said Stephanie Menning of Midwest ENERGY Association.
The 2009 Natural Gas Rodeo will take place September 18-19 in Fairview Heights, Ill. For complete National Gas Rodeo results, visit www.nationalgasrodeo.org, or contact Stephanie Menning at 651.289.9600 x114. And Saddle Up!
