You've
heard it was coming and now it's here! The
Federal Government has adopted new regulations
starting in February, 1999. Natural Gas
Utilities must conform and make available
to residential customers a safety device
known as an Excess Flow Valve (EFV). The
EFV is designed to stop the flow of gas
on a service line if it was damaged by a
dig-in or other catastrophic failure.
In
general terms, the regulation applies to
gas systems 10 psi or greater, and only
on new or repaired service lines. The cost
of the EV installation can be passed on
to the customer depending on specific state
allowances.
To
minimize the impact of this new requirement
on utility operations, Groebner & Associates
is supplying the R.W. Lyall Lyco Excess
Valve (LEFV). The Lyco EFV is a high quality
valve with excellent operation and flow
characteristics. The Lyco EFV is the only
valve designed with the working components
not directly in the gas stream for consistent
and reliable operation. Most importantly,
it comes in a variety of configurations
(tap tees, repair couplings, butt fusion
"sticks", etc.) for ease and
speed of installation.
